Welcome to Scale Colors and Bling for Bases!
Scale Colors is a new line of hard-polymer acrylic scale model paints, utilizing an entirely new chemical formula to ensure superior leveling and durability with the user-friendly approach you’ve come to expect from acrylics. Scale Colors are water and isopropyl alcohol based, are airbrush-ready, and clean up with water. Scale Colors are not produced overseas, but are researched, mixed, bottled, and labeled in the United States.
Scale Colors Weathering Pigments are carried over from the original Warpigs brand pigments released in 2003. Scale Colors Weathering Pigments are finely ground to 50-micron consistency. Are Scale Colors any different than any of the other pigments out there? Yes, they are. Scale Colors Weathering Pigments do not contain any binding agents, so the color you see in the jar is the color you get on your model. Scale Colors pigments are sourced from a quarry in the Luberon Mountains of France.
Scale Colors Acrylic Washes are also originally Warpigs products. Scale Colors Acrylic Washes are designed to work specifically with Scale Colors paint, and if used as intended, will not attack the underlying paint, even without a barrier coat. Simply brush on, allow to dry, then remove the excess with a damp cloth or cotton swab.
Bling for Bases started out as an affordable alternative to using historical military badges and medals for model display bases. Each replica badge is cast from an original (where available), and is hand-painted and weathered.

Product Recall – if you purchased a bottle of USAAF Zinc Chromate Yellow from us at the IPMS Nationals in Chattanooga this past August, that specific color had some sort of chemical reaction with the pigmentation, causing it to separate and congeal in the bottle. Please contact us and we will replace it free of charge with another Scale Colors color. This applies only to the Zinc Chromate Yellow sold at the IPMS USA National Convention. We are working on trying to figure out what happened with that specific formula, and will re-release the color once its resolved. Thanks!
